The Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of the Cross in Lebanon was founded in 1930 by Blessed Father Jacques Haddad with a sacred mission to care for the needy and educate the youth. A total of 183 nuns, 200 doctors, 214 teachers and 2,000 employees, serving the poor and needy, in their 19 institutions, out of which the renowned psychiatric facilities (Deir El-Saleeb and Deir El Amar), the nursing home (Al-Saydeh), St. Joseph Hospital with 200 beds and Val Pere Jacques School. In total, they serve 1,550 mentally and physically under privileged persons, 170 orphans, 800 elderly suffering from Alzheimer’s and chronic diseases, while educating 3,200 students from underserved communities. The long-term survival of the mission is threatened in an unprecedented matter due to the economic crisis in Lebanon. They are in urgent need for financial support in order to survive and assume the continuity of their mission these difficult times.
