Reverend and dear Monsignors and Fathers, Deacons and Subdeacons, Brothers and Sisters;

I am sorry to inform you of the passing of Father Joseph Abi Saad, on the morning of August 19, 2024.

Father Joseph was born on December 15. 1955, in Bsous, Lebanon, to Antoine and Renee (Taylor). Father Joseph later moved to Lawrence. Massachusetts, where he worked as an accountant for many years.

He discerned a vocation to the priesthood a little later in life and completed his theological studies at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Seminary in Washington, DC. Father Joseph was ordained a priest for our Eparchy, on June 11, 2016, at Our Lady's Maronite Church in Bsous, Lebanon.

His first assignment was as Parochial Vicar of Saint Anthony Church, in Lawrence, MA, while also serving the pastoral needs of the faithful at Saint George Church, in Dover, NH/ In 2018, he was appointed Administrator of Saint Sharbel Church, in Newtown Square, PA, and in 2022 as Administrator of Saint Theresa Church, in Brockton, MA.

Father Joseph was predeceased by his parents, his brother Jacques, and his sister Lisette. He is survived by his sister Josette.

His wake will be held at Saint Theresa Church in Brockton on Thursday August2 fom 4:00 pm — 8:00 pm. The Ginnaz for a deceased priest will take place at 7:00 pm. All priests are welcome to take part in the Ginnaz and are asked to wear a jibbee and the Eparchial stole.

On Friday, August 23, there will be a viewing at Saint Anthony Church in Lawrence, from 10.00 am — 12.00 Noon. Father's Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated there at Noon by Bishop Gregory Mansour. All priests are welcome to concelebrate the Divine Liturgy and are asked to wear a ibbee and the Eparchial stole.

Immediately after the Divine Liturgy the interment will take place at the parish cemetery, to be followed by a Meal of Mercy.

We extend our sincere sympathy to his parishioners and to his family and friends, ask you to please remember Father Joseph in your Masses and prayers. May he rest in Peace.
