Consecration of the Chrism and Holy Oils

Dear Brother Priests, Deacons and Subdeacons, Consecrated Men and Women:

The Divine Liturgy for the Consecration of the Chrism and Holy Oils will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 5th at 12 noon at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lebanon in Brooklyn, New York. A Lenten luncheon for all will follow in the hall.

Although the current situation might be challenging for some, we, nonetheless, invite all priests and parishioners throughout the Eparchy and extend a welcome for those priests able to stay overnight, either with me at the Cathedral Rectory, at a nearby Maronite Parish, or with Bishop Gregory at his residence.

Please RSVP by emailing me at cathrectory@verizon.net

One can also follow us online that day on youtube.

As we know, at the Liturgy for the Consecration of the Chrism, the Bishop takes the vessel of the old Chrism and pours a small amount into the vessel of the new oil to be blessed. The Chrism and Holy Oils that are sent to our parishes and used by the priests are not only a sign of unity in the Eparchy with the Bishop and amongst ourselves, but also a visible sign of a tradition handed down from generation to generation, from the old to the new.

I hope you and your parishioners will consider coming if you are able.

In Jesus Christ,
Abouna Dominique Hanna
