Second Sunday after the Glorious Epiphany of Our Lord

Great Amazement Filled All on Earth

  1. Great amazement filled all on earth
and the angel hosts on high
when the Lord, who is clean and pure,
was baptized, though free from sin.
    Jordan’s waters he has blessed
for the pardon of our sins.
    Through Baptism we are cleansed,
that we may be born again
as the children of our God.

  2. Earth and heaven rejoice and sing,
Christ the King has been baptized,
and the light of the truth now shines,
    conquering the dark of night.
    Christ converted people’s hearts
    from idolatry and sin,
and he gave his Church on earth
    this forgiving Mystery
when he came to be baptized.

  3. Hosts of angels announced his birth.
Now his Father’s voice is heard.
    At the Jordan he testifies: “This is my Beloved Son;
in him I am truly pleased. Listen to him and have life.”
Blest is he who has baptized for the pardon of our sins
With true faith we worship him.
