Joyfully a Light Has Dawned

Joyfully a light has dawned
spreading gladness on the earth.
Christ our Savior is the light
conquering the dark of night.
He dispelled the darkness
caused by sin and death
with his Gospel’s light.The apostles Jesus chose
had been blessed by his great love.
At the Jordan they were called,
filled with Spirit and with fire.
Then with strength they went forth
preaching to the world
to restore the truth.When your Gospel had been preached,
Lord, despite the hardships faced,
it called nations back to you
and still calls us to believe.
Christ our Lord, we ask you,
may your Gospel’s light
shine for evermore.
